Vibraphonist Red Norvo is probably best remembered for his various "Trios" (see Red Norvo Trio with Tal Farlow and Charles Mingus: The Savoy Sessions and Trios for examples -- I reviewed the latter), but the cheekily titled "Music To Listen To Red Norvo By" is my personal favorite. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a sextet but it is quite a lineup on this outing -- Buddy Collette on flute 4/4(4).

The title REd Norvo In Stereo is a dead giveaway: this session features the sound of Norvo's earlier band with better quality sound, appealing chiefly to those who enjoyed the music the first time around and want more vibrant sounding records for their hi-fis.
